How to Grant Permissions to Users


This article provides a comprehensive guide on granting permission for users within the Bold Reports server, allowing them to effectively manage reports, data sources, datasets, schedules and categories.

Granting Admin permission to Users

By providing admin permission to users, you enable them to create, read, write, and delete all resource entities, including reports, data sources, datasets, schedules, and categories. This enables the user to have full access. To grant these permissions, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your Bold Reports site using an admin user account, accessing it through (E.g., {domain_name}/reporting/site/{site_identifier})
  2. Click on the Users icon located in the left-side panel and select the Groups tab.
  3. Choose the System Administrator group and click on the Add Users icon.
  4. Select the desired user from the Add user drop-down list to grant them admin access.
  5. Now, the user will have all permissions.

Granting Resource Entity Permission to Users

This enables you to customize permissions for users. To provide create access for any resource entity such as reports, data sources, schedules, datasets, and categories, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the users or groups listing page within the Bold Reports site.
  2. Choose the desired user and select the Manage Permissions option from the menu. To add permissions to multiple users, create a group, assign permissions to the group, and then add the desired users to the group.
  3. Click on the Add Permission button.
  4. Select All Resources and then select any Entity. Then, set the permissions you would like to give to the user.
  5. Click the Add button to finalize. The selected user or group will now have permission to create the chosen entity.
