How to resolve Internal Server Error of UMS site | Bold Reports

In Bold Reports , the following Internal Server Error may occur when accessing the UMS site: This could be due to an inability to connect to its database for various reasons. This article will guide you to overcome the issue.

Database connection failure may occur due to any of the following possible reasons:

  1. When the SQL Server is not running or available,
    Solution: Refer to the section below, Check SQL server running status, to resolve this issue.

  2. When DB connection details are modified:

  • Server or database name changed,
  • SQL Server user was removed or their permission revoked,
  • SQL Server user password expired or was modified,
    Solution: Please refer to the KB article below to update the database connection details in the Bold Reports application.

We can identify the exact reason for the error by checking the UMS site logs of the Bold Reports application by following the steps below:

  1. Refer to the following article to locate the application log location based on the deployment environment:

  2. From the downloaded logs, navigate to the logs -> ums.web directory and locate the latest error log file named errors.txt.
  3. Open that file and go to the bottom where the latest log entry will be present.
  4. There, you can find details about the failure of the database connection of the UMS site, like below:
