In Bold Reports, parameters can be configured as either single-value or multi-value parameters. However, in some scenarios, users may require you to enter multiple comma-separated values (for example, John,Peter,Mary) while still using a single-value parameter.
This guide shows how to configure a simple single‑value parameter and apply filtering for multiple values using a Split expression.
Step-by-Step: Configure a Single-Value Parameter
-
Open the Report Designer
- Launch the Bold Reports Designer and open the report where you want to implement multi-value filtering.
-
Create a Single-Value Parameter
- In the Parameters pane, click Add to create a new parameter (for example, Names). Set the Data Type to String.
- Under Default Values, specify the required parameter value.
-
Add a Filter to the Tablix
- Select the table and navigate to the Properties panel and click Set Filters.
- In the Filter dialog, choose the field name (for example, Name). Set the Operator to In. Click the Expression (fx) button.
-
Add the Split Expression
- In the Expression Editor, configure the filter expression as shown below:
- In the Expression Editor, configure the filter expression as shown below:
=Split(Replace(Replace(Parameters!Names.Value, ", “, “,”), " ,”, “,”), “,”)
This expression splits the comma-separated parameter values and applies them as filter inputs.
5. Save and Preview the Report
- Click OK to save the expression and preview the report.
