Resolving Database Connection Issues in Bold Reports Server

When configuring the Bold Reports server and attempting to establish a connection with the database, you might encounter an error message similar to the following: This error typically arises when the server doesn’t trust the certificate utilized by the database, which could be due to reasons such as an expired or self-signed certificate or a certificate issued by an untrusted authority.

Database Error: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (Provider: SSL Provider, Error: 0 - The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted.)

To resolve this issue, ensure you include a specific property in the Additional Parameters textbox before initiating the site creation process. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the configuration settings of the Bold Reports server.

  2. Locate the section for Additional Parameters:

  3. In the additional parameters section, add the following property:
    TrustServerCertificate=True

  4. Enable SSL if the database server is SSL configured.
